Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week

Our dedicated volunteers at last year’s Denim & Diamonds event.

Our Volunteers: Support, Encouragement, and A Lot of Heart!

It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and at Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose, we’re taking a moment to recognize the people who help make our work possible every day.

In San Jose alone, 169 volunteers gave more than 1,700 hours of their time last year. Their impact reaches every part of our organization—from working directly with clients to supporting programs and keeping operations running behind the scenes.

Volunteers show up in ways both visible and unseen. They are the stylist helping you find the right outfit for an interview, the coach offering guidance, the welcoming face when you walk through our doors—these are often volunteers.

Their contributions span across our entire organization. Volunteers support Career Wardrobe appointments, prepare and organize clothing, and help sort inventory. They lead workshops in financial education and AI readiness, offer career coaching, and share practical tools that women can use to move forward with confidence.

They also play a key role in bringing our community together. From serving on planning committees to supporting events to welcoming guests and helping everything run smoothly, volunteers are an essential part of how everything we do.

In short, they do it all.

At the core of Dress for Success is a commitment to creating a space where women feel supported, prepared, and confident in their next steps. Volunteers help make that possible. Their time, care, and encouragement shape the experience in ways that are both immediate and lasting.

This week, we’re taking a moment to recognize them. Whether volunteering individually or as part of a corporate group, their support strengthens this work every day—and we are grateful.
