Beginning this month, Dress for Success San Jose will transition Career Wardrobe to a one-day-per-week model, expanding access while maintaining the personalized support our clients rely on.

Inspired by successful programs across the Dress for Success global network, the new Self-Directed Career Wardrobe model shifts from long one-on-one appointments to a guided boutique experience. Hosting Career Wardrobe on one primary day each week allows us to serve more women while dedicating more staff and volunteer time to career coaching, employer engagement, and follow-up services.

Career Wardrobe remains the foundation of our work. What changes is the structure — not our commitment.

Our Temporary Home at Westfield Valley Fair

This transition comes as Dress for Success San Jose begins a temporary residency at Westfield Valley Fair.

In February, we hosted a three-day pop-up boutique inside the mall. The response was immediate and powerful — and we served 71 women in two days! Volunteers stepped in to style clients, shoppers stopped to learn about our work, and most importantly, women left prepared for interviews.

Following that success, Westfield Valley Fair invited us to continue operating our programs in the beginning of March.

We anticipate remaining at Valley Fair through at least the end of May, with the possibility of extending depending on leasing timelines.

The Self-Directed Experience

Within a structured boutique environment, clients will be able to:

• Select professional attire with guided styling support
• Participate in a 20-minute career coaching session
• Schedule follow-up services and programs

Clients will continue completing intake forms so our team understands their employment goals and immediate needs before they arrive.

A Model Designed to Expand Access

Dress for Success San Francisco will launch the same model at its downtown office on Wednesdays beginning March 25.
