January 2024 Client Highlight: Gianna S.

"I began working with a mentor who not only validates me but is truly wanting for me to succeed in my professional and academic goals."

Gianna reached out to Dress for Success San Jose while feeling undervalued at her place of employment of 8 years.

She knew she had the skills but couldn’t quite put it on paper (her resume) with confidence.

Gianna started working with a Glassdoor virtual career mentor, who helped her feel empowered to explore new roles in which she can use her skills.

First, they talked about the different tasks Gianna was already responsible for in her role. Next, they talked about new and current tasks Gianna wanted to do should the next role be offered to her.

After a few sessions, Gianna successfully interviewed for different companies, negotiated pay, and received an offer.

Gianna approached her then-manager to negotiate a senior role and to match this pay, successfully doing so!

Since then, Gianna has continued to apply for different roles and now works at a new company receiving a higher salary and having a better sense of work-life balance!

Congratulations Gianna!
